IV Nutrient Therapy
Vitamins are real medicine. Clinical studies continue to prove that IV vitamin therapy can:
- Help prevention and support the treatment of a wide variety of diseases and conditions.
- Improve general health and overall well-being.
What is IV Therapy?
Although it may appear to be a growing trend, IV is firmly based on medical and scientific evidence. It includes not only IV vitamins, but other nutrients, such as minerals, amino acids, and other natural organic compounds – given as an intravenous infusion. “IV nutrient therapy” is a more proper description of what we do.
At Atlanta Vitality Center, we use only the most advanced therapies available to keep you feeling your best. Our medical director is a board-certified doctor of internal medicine and has developed the appropriate IV nutrient therapy protocols to fit your health needs.
IV nutrient therapy may be helpful for:
- Cold and Flu
- Allergies and Asthma
- Athletic performance enhancement
- Certain cardiovascular conditions
- Gastrointestinal problems (IBS, Crohn’s, colitis)
- Post-surgery recovery (including bariatric and cosmetic surgery)
- High blood pressure
- Fibromyalgia and Neuropathic pain
- Anxiety and Depression
IV Vitamin Therapy works by the administration of vitamins and nutrients directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system. This procedure provides increased cell absorption and 100% bio availability of vitamins via IV infusion. Booster shots are administered via intramuscular (IM) injection, so there is no GI metabolism, which also allows for increased absorption. With oral supplements, you only get about 20% absorption after filtering through your digestive system, which clearly pales in comparison to IV vitamins.
Advantages of Intravenous Vitamin Therapy
1) NUTRIENTS DELIVERED DIRECTLY TO CELLS THROUGH THE BLOODSTREAM
With intravenous nutrient therapy, as soon as your infusion starts, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients are quickly circulated through your bloodstream and delivered to cells, where they are immediately available for use. It’s like “direct deposit”; in IV vitamin therapy, there’s no waiting for the nutrients to clear the digestive system and the liver.
2) FEWER SIDE EFFECTS
Intravenous vitamin therapy bypasses the stomach and intestines. This means no upset stomach or intestinal problems like cramps, nausea, or diarrhea, which sometimes result from taking high doses of certain vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin C and magnesium.
3) ALLOWS FOR HIGH-DOSE THERAPY NECESSARY FOR EFFECTIVE TREATMENT OUTCOMES
Research has shown that there are specific blood or tissue concentrations of certain nutrients that must be achieved in order to be active pharmacologically. A great example of this type of nutrient is Vitamin C. Numerous studies demonstrate that high concentrations of are required in the serum and intracellular fluid before it can exert its beneficial effects.
These high concentrations cannot be achieved by taking the nutrients orally; the bulk of vitamins and minerals swallowed in pill or liquid form is excreted, with very little actually absorbed into the bloodstream. Complicating this further is that many patients have conditions that impair their intestinal absorption in the first place. Finally, as noted above, many patients cannot tolerate high doses of certain vitamins and minerals because these upset their stomachs. Therefore, only intravenous vitamin therapy can directly deliver pharmacologically effective doses of the required nutrients.
4) TREATMENT OF SPECIFIC MEDICAL CONDITIONS BASED ON CLINICAL EVIDENCE AND/OR STUDY DATA
